Painting Course with accomodation
2026 Sessions
Located in he south of France, 40 km near Toulouse, Château de Pourpry has always hosted painting courses since 1980 until its renovation in 2018.
We are resuming this tradition with new equally distinguished professors.
Our courses for beginners or experienced players allow us to create special moments of immersion around a shared passion.
Internship program :
The courses take place over 4 or 5 nights, arrival on Sunday from 2 p.m. If you come by train ou plane, we will pick you up free of charge at Damiatte / St Paul station, 45 minutes from Toulouse or at Toulouse / Blagnac airport.
The afternoon is devoted to discovering the place, presentations, a welcome cocktail then the evening meal.
Depending on the trainees' interest, an outing can be organized to a nearby picturesque village. In this case, the midday meal in an establishment is covered.
Departure is on thursday or wednesday depending on the case at 6:00 p.m., with the possibility of extension. We free of charge accompany those who wish to the Damiatte / St Paul station or to Toulouse/Blagnac airport
Painting courses 2026
The courses you will find below have been selected for the particular qualities brought by the teaching artists. It may be a technique, an ability to stimulate your creativity or a simple ability to transmit their knowledge and experience.
The objective is to ensure that you can truly progress in kindness and derive long-term benefit from your creative approach.
Beginners are absolutely welcome but in the interest of the group, we do not accommodate more than 2 per session, so please specify your level in the booking form.

Watercolours & Acrylics – Sketching and painting Landscapes & Portraits
Carole Massey
5 days / 5 nights

Throughout the course, you will explore the fundamentals of colour mixing, composition, and brush technique.
You will also practice blending and layering methods to create depth, light, and texture, develop landscape paintings that convey atmosphere, perspective and mood.
You will learn how to create lifelike portraits, focusing on proportions, form and skin tones and gain confidence in your own creative style while creating a series of finished
paintings.
By the end of the course, you’ll not only have completed several beautiful works
but also gained the skills and confidence to keep exploring watercolours or acrylics on your own.

"En plein air !" Oils and Acrylics.
Tushar Sabale

This is a unique opportunity to paint and learn plein air painting with London based renowned artist Tushar Sabale in the grounds of Château Pourpry. This 5 day workshop is suitable for intermediate level as well as beginners with some experience of painting ‘en plein air’.
Throughout the workshop you will get to watch your tutor paint and demonstrate how he approaches a subject to paint and then make a painting yourself under his direct guidance and supervision.
The course will cover range of topics such as choosing a subject, making composition, colours, tonal values, capturing light, atmosphere and much more.
There will be formal and informal sessions with the group as well as individual discussions and talks on art and painting.
You will be painting various subjects ranging from the beautiful French landscapes, gardens, buildings, classical structures, objects and much more.
Each day is designed and tailor made for various exercises to keep it interesting and enjoyable while being educational and informative at the same time.
By the end of the course you will have enough confidence to paint plein air, from life and take home valuable painting tips and lessons in form of notes and set of paintings produced during the workshop
Appropriate gear for the weather is highly recommended.

Yong-Man Kwon

During this course, Yong-Man wants to show how to start a painting without hesitation.
Whatever the level and style adopted, he will explain how to start from a blank canvas and progress with confidence, master framing, add color...

Murielle Vanhove

Through this acrylic course I aspire to guide those who follow it towards more freedom in painting, while remaining in figuration.
It is through the energy of movement that we will deconstruct the painting, giving it strength and lightness. Working on light will be at the center of my teaching. The study of color and its harmonies too. I like to transmit and my teaching will adapt to your level, with all humility and kindness.

This course allows you to approach all phases of the oil portrait, from the drawing, then the monochrome layer, the application of colors...
From an image.
We will therefore begin by addressing the principles of drawing with the observation of values, the mixing of colors, brush techniques and their uses.
From the chromatic circle the method of Zorn (19th century Swedish painter) will be applied using titan white, yellow ocher, light cadnium red and ivory black to create any portrait.
In a few days, Judith will give you the confidence to take your first portraits or improve your technique!

External session
When you book an external session, you travel by your own means, attend the session, share the lunch with other attendees and leave the place after end of session by 5 p.m.

1. At booking time, you need a valid credit card to confirm the booking. You will receive a confirmation email thereafter. 350€ will be debited a few days later.
2. You can cancel your booking free of charge up to 45 days prior the session, either using your booking managment link in the email or contacting us. We'll refund on the same credit card.
3. After this date, there can be no refund on this amount which goes to the teacher to ensure his payment anyway.
4. A second payment of 350€ will be deducted from your credit card 45 days prior the session. This amount can be refunded by 50% in case of late cancellation by showing evidence of "cas de force majeure".
5. Last payment of the balance is due upon arrival, preferably by cash.
6. When you leave, you will pay for purchases made during your stay ( canvas + contents in the locked cupboard) as well as a possible contribution to the colors depending on your internship (max=6€/day).
