Carole Massey

Carole has been a professional, self-employed artist all her working life. After completing a Foundation year at St Albans School of Art, she went on to study Graphic Design at Leicester College of Art & Design (now de Montford University).

Following several years working in advertising agencies in London and the home counties, she started her own successful design partnership which she ran with her husband, Eric, for 25 years before returning to her first love of painting.

Carole’s work includes landscapes, figure studies and portraits which have included members of the Royal family and celebrities such as Joanna Lumley and Diana Ross.

Carole was honoured with a commission for the Bank of England of Professor Sir Charlie Bean, the retiring deputy governor. She was invited to the unveiling by Sir Mark Carney before an invited audience at the Bank of England, where the paintings now hangs permanently.

She is a best-selling author of eight “How To” art books, the latest being “The Beginners Guide to Painting Portraits”, all published by Search Press.

Carole is a very popular tutor, having led many painting retreats in Europe as well as a wide variety of courses in the UK.

She has exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London and has work in private ownership in Hong Kong, the UK, Europe and America. She has contributed to various art magazines and has appeared on local and national television.

After a period of living in Brittany, Carole now lives in Suffolk where she has a studio, continuing her career as a successful artist and tutor.
